Gabriela M. Ruiz to Speak at International Bar Association Conference

Gabriela M. Ruiz, head of the firm’s Latin America practice, will speak at “Compliance, governance and innovation: balancing risks and opportunities of doing business in Latin America,” an upcoming conference in São Paulo, hosted by the International Bar Association. Gabriela will join panelists Benjamin Borsodi, Schellenberg Wittmer, Marcelo Pontes Vianna, Controladoria Geral de União, and Marilia Zulini da C. Loosli, CCEP-I, Motiva Infraestrutura de Mobilidade, for the session, “Evolving fraud regulatory framework and impacts on corporate investigations,” on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

The session will provide an analysis of recent legislative and regulatory changes that are reshaping the landscape for fraud prevention, detection, and enforcement. Panelists will compare developments in key jurisdictions, highlighting how new statutes, administrative reforms, and enforcement priorities are expanding corporate liability and imposing stricter expectations on internal governance. Building on this overview, the panel will also examine the practical implications of these developments for internal investigations.
